Oh SHMELLO
Happy (belated) Birthday to ME! Well, not my actual bday, but I’ve officially been doing this for a year. I TRIED to get one out last week, but some LIFE stuff got in the way. ANYWAY, thank you babies for coming here and lookin’ at the music I like! I actually just passed 200 subscribers this week, which is pretty cool. And I just got a notification as I’m writing this that I am now #34 on the “Rising in Music” list on Substack. I’m not going to get too excited about this though. Last time this happened, I was telling everyone, sending screenshots to my family and friends. And then POOF! Off the list the next day. But I’m still going to post a screenshot to PROVE IT HAPPENED. SOMEONE BE PROUD OF ME.
ANYWAAAAAAY,if you’re new here (I got a bunch of new subscribers for some reason this week), this is MOSTLY a list of Bandcamp links to stuff I found this week. I can’t write for SHIT, so don’t expect me to write anything too deep. But I will pick out some stuff that made me go “mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm GLAZEY.” Yes, I say this out loud to myself EVERY TIME.
The first thing that made me GOL (Glazey Out Loud) is this Katsy Pline album. Reallllly interesting country(ish) album. I say ISH because it goes off on some cool, electronicy, spacey adventures at points. MMMMMMMM GLAZEY.
Always excited to see a Guruguru Brain release. Gooooooood vibes on this single. Not sure what genre to call this, so I’ll make one up. Hypnotic Jazz. MMMMMMMM GLAZEY.
While I was putting this all together this morning, I saw Luke Schneider has a new single on one of my favorite labels, Leaving Records. My brain needs SOOTHING and this is so SOOTHY. Is Soothy a word? MMMMMMMM SOOTHY.
And finally, here’s the monthly Spotify for August. I’ve been wrestlin’ with continuing doing this (since Spotify is such fucking trash) but for now I’ll continue since I know people like and use these to find new music. There is, however, a ton of stuff missing, since a good chunk of the list is not on Spotify.
ONE LAST THING (if you’re still reading). If you have pictures or drawings or paintings or doodles or WHATEVER of donuts and wouldn’t mind me using them, please send them my way. Trying to not use AI SLOP, but I can’t draw at all. Look at this image for today’s post:
This was suppose to be a chocolate frosted donut. Anyway, onto the list!
